The AgeTech Revolution book was recently published on Amazon and has since reached bestseller status and got great reviews. We’ve got an exclusive Q&A with the author, Keren Etkin. What is this book about? Why is it important? And why should YOU read it?

Keren, congratulations on the publication of the book, can you tell us what is this book about?

Thanks Nil! The AgeTech Revolution is a book that explores two major trends that are impacting each and every one of us – the digital transformation our society is going through, and the aging of the population. It goes into challenges of aging that are currently being tackled by technology – using the real-life stories of tech entrepreneurs and older adults.

Why did you decide to write this book?

This is a great question. I’ve been an insider of the agetech ecosystem, as well as an outsider looking in, and have always felt that this space doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. Also, there are many misconceptions about what agetech is, and while it is gaining more and more attention in traditional tech media, it still doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. I’ve heard so many amazing stories from founders, older adults and family caregivers whose lives have been impacted — for the better, and I feel that what we’re all doing here – utilizing the most cutting-edge technology to serve the needs of a subsegment of the population that is usually underserved by technology (older adults) – is revolutionary. And a revolution deserves a book, does it not?

For sure! So, why should anyone reading these lines be interested in this book?

Well, since this book explores the intersection of technology and aging – two things you simply can not escape – it’s relevant for everyone. After all, we are all aging, and we’re all using technology. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to live to be 80, 90 or even 100 years old. The question is, how we can use technology to make life better for everyone, regardless of whether they’re a digital native or not. Generally speaking, consumer facing technology isn’t designed with older adults in mind. The AgeTech ecosystem is an outlier in that regard – it’s dedicated to meeting the needs and wants of older adults and those who care for them. If we want to create a better world to grow old in, and a society that’s more age-inclusive, despite the fact that the technology that surrounds us is changing at an increasingly growing rate – we’ve got to make a conscious effort. And it’s a collaborative one. So, coming back to your question, I believe anyone who’s interested in taking part in changing the current trajectory of the tech landscape, and getting involved in the agetech revolution, whether it is as an entrepreneur, an investor, or a consumer – should definitely read this book.
