CES 2025 AgeTech Spotlight: A Record-Breaking Number of Awards and Major Breakthroughs
AgeTech’s presence at CES 2025 was bigger than ever, with two of our ecosystem’s most influential networks showcasing cutting-edge innovations and the CTA Foundation hosting two prize competitions with major awards.
While I couldn’t attend in person, I’ve scoured every article, press release, and highlight reel to bring you the best of AgeTech from the show floor. Even if you were there, you probably didn’t catch it all – so let’s dive into the tech shaping the future of aging!
AARP and AgeTech Atlanta Make AgeTech’s Presence Known!
AARP’s AgeTech Collaborative continued its tradition of maintaining a significant presence at the Venetian Expo hall. Their innovative booth design included an aging simulation experience, allowing visitors to better understand the challenges faced by older adults.
The traditional “AgeTech After Dark” pitch competition saw five startups competing for a $10,000 prize:
Lumia Health (Winner)
The company introduced a groundbreaking ear-worn device that monitors blood flow to the head, targeting conditions like POTS, Dysautonomia, and Orthostatic Hypotension. The solar-powered wearable pairs with a mobile app to help users track and manage their symptoms while identifying triggers and effective interventions.
Appscent Medical
This startup is tackling sleep apnea with an unconventional approach – a contactless, scent-based solution. Their system combines remote sensing technology with AI to detect sleep apnea events and deliver personalized scent-based interventions, offering an alternative to traditional CPAP machines and surgical options.
Beacon
The company has developed an intelligent disinfection system for indoor spaces, using patented technology to target viruses, bacteria, mold, and allergens. Their approach focuses on preventative health measures for shared living environments.
Cōpe
Targeting Gen X and Baby Boomers, this digital platform focuses on building emotional resilience through group coaching, structured programs, and community engagement. The app aims to help older adults navigate life transitions and challenges.
Eyecontrol
Their innovative AI-powered communication system helps patients who cannot speak connect with healthcare providers and family members. The platform adapts to various levels of consciousness and awareness, while providing real-time analytics for healthcare teams.
AgeTech Atlanta Makes Its Official CES Debut
AgeTech Atlanta made a significant impact with its first CES appearance, showcasing 12 startups from their community at the Venetian Expo Hall. This debut was made possible through partnerships with the Metro Atlanta Chamber and Telliant Systems, following the organization’s recent expansion across North America, including new branches in Boston, Chicago, Colorado, New York City, Toronto, Los Angeles, and Washington DC. Consumer Technology Association Foundation Highlights Innovation
The CTA Foundation hosted two notable competitions this year. The Eureka Park Accessibility Awards provided winners with enhanced booth placement and $2,500 prizes. Notable winners included:
Blueberry Technology
This San Jose startup is addressing last-mile transportation challenges with autonomous personal mobility vehicles, initially focusing on airport accessibility.
Lotus
Their innovative ring-based control system offers a simplified approach to home automation, using infrared technology to control lights, fans, and other household devices through intuitive pointing gestures.
Makesense Technology
The company’s Vector device represents a significant advancement in navigation tools for the visually impaired, combining high-precision sensors with haptic feedback in a handheld format.
Sign Speak
This platform leverages AI for real-time sign language translation, focusing on accessibility while maintaining privacy and accuracy in communication.
Soliddd
The company has developed electronic eyeglasses that offer a novel approach to treating macular degeneration, using parallel light rays and innovative stereo vision technology.

CTA Foundation Pitch Competition Highlights
The foundation’s pitch competition, presented by Next50, featured several promising companies competing for a $25,000 prize:
ONSCREEN, Inc. (Winner)
The company transforms standard tablets into specialized caregiving devices, with a focus on making TV-based video calls and social connections more accessible for seniors. And if you’ve always wondered what people do when they win those large checks at a competition, Costin Tuculescu from OnScreen has the answer for you (watch the video)!
Eyedaptic
Their smart glasses technology aims to enhance remaining vision for individuals with conditions like Age-Related Macular Degeneration and Diabetic Retinopathy.
MapHabit
This cognitive support platform provides personalized, step-by-step guides to help individuals maintain independence and support caregivers in their daily tasks.
New and Noteworthy
Asahi Kasei Microdevices unveiled it’s new urine-powered, battery-free smart diapers. They also published a white paper which focuses on challenges related to excretion management in caregiving settings. You can check it out here.
Skip and ARC’TERYX unveiled the Mo/Go which is a wearable device designed to help you tackle any elevation with less exertion, muscle fatigue & joint discomfort, boosting your legs by up to 40% on the way up and gently supporting your knees on the way down. According to the company it can make you feel up to 30 pounds lighter as you move. They also offer the option to rent the device for just $80, which is quite affordable.
Last but not least, Korea-based Hyodol showcased their AI-powered companion robot, which is uniquely designed to resemble a soft doll, which is proba the least-intimidating form factor for any robot ever.
AgeTech had a strong presence at CES 2025, showcasing innovations that prioritize independence, connectivity, and quality of life for older adults. From wearable tech to AI-powered devices (what isn’t AI-powered these days?), these advancements highlight the potential for technology to make aging easier and more fulfilling.
